| When I was in college (1993), I had a massive crush on Nathan Lane. People knew this and one day, I received an autographed photo from Nathan in the mail. I couldn't figure out who told him and gave him my address. So what did I do? I called the Richard Rodgers Theater (I don't know how I got the number) and gave my phone number to the stage doorman and told him I'd like Nathan to call me. The next night, Nathan called me. It was 9ish. He was calling me during intermission! It was "Laughter on the 23rd Floor." I asked him out to dinner and he sort of considered it but never got back to me. Later, whenever I visited NYC, I would go and knock on the stage door and the stage doorman would let me hang out with him inside til Nathan came down. One time, Nathan said "there is a 12 step program for you." Other times, he just humored me and left. Also, when Victor Garber was in "Damn Yankees," I would go inside the Marquis Theater stage door and ask where Victor's dressing room was. They actually told me and I went up to see him! Nowadays, I can't believe I got away with all that. Eventually, 12 years later, I had dinner with Nathan. As for Victor, years later, he and I were both in TV shows on the FOX network. I approached him at a FOX party and told him about the time I stalked him and he was interested in talking to me at all. | |
