I forgot about the White Christmas decision (or maybe just tried to block it from my mind!).

There have been some real head-scratchers by the Tony folks:
-After Miss Julie being a revival
-Actors from the remounting of "White Christmas" being eligible
-Ben Fankhauser as Lead in Newsies (this is probably the most baffling decision of all, because I can't imagine the Newsies team or Fankhauser asking for this ruling, which basically ensured he was not getting nominated. So the Tonys people must have come up with that all by themselves)
-I would add having the three actors rotating as Billy Elliott become co-nominees, with a specific ruling that you didn't have to see all three to vote for them (but you still had to see all the other nominees from other shows in order to vote...that was real consistent). This is one where I think the Tony folks realize they made a mistake and didn't repeat the issue when Matilda came along a few years later, giving the Matilda leads a Special Tony and taking them out of the competitive mix.

It will be interesting to see whether Roundabout's upcoming production of The Pirates of Penzance gets designated a revival or a new musical. I guess we don't know right now how much it has changed from the original script.
