Linking a lovely, very personal interview with Merle Louise from 1984. Interestingly, she doesn't remember being cast as the Beggar Woman on the spot. Also, like Jack Klugman, and unlike the authors, she didn't seem to have felt that Merman ever walked through Gypsy.
