| The New Amsterdam is spectacular but the revelations for me have been the recent renovations of two Herbert J. Krapp designed buildings, The Ethyl Barrymore and The Majestic. The former is surprisingly understated with shimmering mosaic details and the later is completely over the top and feels dreamlike (think Little Nemo in Slumberland) but still masterfully unified in its crazy borrowings from all sorts of design elements. |
