Saw "A Funny Thing..." in DC

I mostly enjoyed this fresh look at "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way To The Forum" in DC. Mike Millan in particular as Hysterium was a crowd favorite.

However, as someone pretty familiar with both the OBC and Nathan Lane revival recordings, it really felt to me like the tempos were taken incredibly slow during this production. "Pretty Little Picture" and "...Maid" in particular dragged, at least 20-30% slower than I'm used to hearing. There were some exceptions ("I'm Calm" and "Dirty Old Man" were fine) but overall I was confused about why that decision was made.

The music director's credits included one of my very favorite orchestral performances ever ("First You dream" at Kennedy center) so I doubt it was his decision alone, or maybe I just saw an off performance. None of the reviews I've seen have mentioned this, but I went back to the recordings after the show just to check that I wasn't completely making this up
