June Squibb, the veteran actress and 2014 Oscar nominee for ''Nebraska,'' is having one of her busiest career years. She currently has an Indie Spirit nomination for Leading Actress for ''Thelma,'' a ''wild grandma revenge comedy,'' in which she did her own stunts. Next year, she'll star in ''Eleanor the Great,'' Scarlett Johansson's feature-film directorial debut. And Squibb recently voiced the character of Nostalgia in the box office hit ''Inside Out 2.''
Squibb made her Broadway debut as a replacement Electra in ''Gypsy.'' She recalls Merman ''had a sense of her audience and a great love [for them].'' |
