Ms. Cravalho does not have a whole lot of legit theatrical experience; after getting cast in Disney's "Moana" as a teen, her work has largely been in TV and film, some of it musical.
But I thought her performance in the new film adaptation of "Mean Girls" was the best thing about it -- she was a total knockout. Full of original, truthful, subtle choices, and she's extra good at acting while singing. I'd swear that she'd studied for years in a good musical theatre conservatory.
She's said (during recent interviews for "Moana 2,") that her dream role is Eva Peron; she played the role in a London staged concert last year. I do wonder if she's under consideration for this new West End production?
