Economics of Once Upon A Mattress |

I'm curious why the producers of Once Upon A Mattress would decide to pick up the entire Broadway company (or almost everyone) and move them to LA for only one month of performances. I'm assuming housing would need to be provided for everyone since they're not hiring locally. Also a per diem for the company working out of state. Wouldn't it have been easier and smarter to make this a tour, like Into The Woods, with the original cast in LA and then a few replacements for the rest? After a short four month run on Broadway that almost certainly did not recoup on investment, why sink more money into it at this point? |
