It's been interesting to hear American audiences talk about the tone of the show being all over the place. Although there were quite a few changes, the majority of funny stuff was still there, but it lands differently for American audiences and I beleive thats because, generally speaking, the UK and USA have a very different sense of humour. I was actually surprised they kept so much of the opening scene in the hospital. Americans like to find humour in positive things, e.g Friends, where as the UK will find humour in darker places, like The Office.

I thought the book for this production was changed too much to go into more details about how they met, how the puppet show was created, where they toured etc. In London, Jim and Tammy were already together and running the puppet show in the first number 'Light of The World' Borle was miscast, Cerveris got lost somehow and it had generally become a much bigger, overblown show than it ever needed to be. 'Heritage USA' was shorter in the NYC production, yet it felt it dragged on far longer.

However Tammy Faye was still miles better than Death Becomes Here. Everyone else rolling around laughing and me rolling my eyes at how unfunny the book was, and alot of it had been stolen from previous comedy shows, so it wasnt even that original.
