Was the first show I ever saw on Broadway on a college field trip. We did a talk back with some of the cast after and BP said a quick hello. I barely knew the show but I was floored. I don’t remember a lot, but I’ve seen it several times since including Patti (Broadway) and Imelda (UK) as well as lots of local/regional productions. It is in my top five of musicals so it made an impact.

One funny story - another student ended up finagling his way to a backstage meet with Bernadette Peters through a connection he had. They took a picture together - Bernadette in a knitted sweater with a dog on it. He’s smiling in the picture but he told us, “I was so excited to get a picture and all I could think about was how she was wearing the ugliest sweater”.

On that same trip I saw Wicked (before the cast recording had even been released), Hairspray (after Marissa left but Harvey was still in), fell asleep during Movin’ Out, did NOT understand Urinetown (I’ve understood it since hahah) and a bunch of others!
