I’m a big GYPSY fan and an even bigger Bernadette Peters fan so these two coming together was huge for me.

I saw it 6 times including the first preview, the final performance, and twice when she was sick. At one of the sick performances I assumed the understudy would go on for act two but Peters played on. Her performance of Rose’s Turn at that show was mind-boggling. It was an edge of your seat kinda thing wondering whether or not she could make it through. She did and it was thrilling (to me).

To this day I am BITTER that she lost the Tony. 🥲
