White passing and white are not the same thing.
While I appreciate the interrogation of the casting of a show and concern over yellow face, I also think it's important to not make presumptions without a bit of research. Biracial people tend to spend much of their lives feeling as if they aren't "enough" of either race and I'm not sure we'd want to exclude someone like Criss here. I think his biracial identity actually lends something interesting to this character that is neither human nor completely machine, at least as we understand it. |
