| Makes a me want to go home after only 3 shows. DBM was colorful that’s about all I can say. I didn’t feel the one line jokes landed at all. The songs were serviceable but forgettable. The fight scene was meant to be campy but was just dumb. It had two finale numbers. SB was drab. I like ALW musicals. I think JCS and Cats are about the only one I don’t like. SB is one of his top musicals. It is ruined by this horrible revival that is getting great reviews. I don’t get it. All that smoke doesn’t fill in the void of no sets costume or props (except the body bag in the beginning). The entire production is b&w. I was surprised NicoleS is 46. She looked early 30s even with the closeup camera work—glennClose was around 50 but played it more feeble. The new years dance doing the robot in 1948????? Norma is barefoot and in a black slip the entire show. I thought maybe she would dress up going to the studio. I wear more singing the album in my living room. I could go on, but why bother. It’s a tragedy of epic proportion. |
