It's hard to compare apples to apples because as you go further back you don't have all of, or as much of, the web and app based outlets.
I seem to remember a lot of noise around Evita. It was unlike any other to me in that the tickets were purchased in advance in a way that was not common back then, and came ahead in the mail I think--or maybe I got them at the box office. But they were not like normal movie tikets. They were on a harder stock and had a color logo.
