| Lowwriter, I'm so glad you had a terrific time at David Henry Hwang's''Yellow Face'' (which is also a N.Y. Times Critic's Pick and closes next Sunday, Nov. 24). I originally caught it down at the Public in 2006, when it was a two-act show and played about two months. I'm thrilled it's made its way to Broadway, finally, and I, too, hope it's remembered at awards time. The Tonys have ruled it's eligible for Best Play Revival, along with Hwang, as its author. For the record, the original run earned Obie Awards for Hwang's playwriting and Francis Jue's scene-stealing performance as his fictionalized father. This revised and tightened one-act version shows how fast and funny and touching it still remains. Also, director Leigh Silverman has explored the issue of race in the theater even more, by showcasing just how protean and versatile this amazing multiracial cast, led by Daniel Dae Kim, is in multiple roles.
