That's terrific news for Aaron Lazar and his wonderful album. Talk about achieving an ''Impossible Dream.'' Here's hopine he wins! His fellow nominees in Traditional Pop are: Lake Street Dive, Gregory Porter, Cyrille Aimee and Norah Jones. Meantime, the Musical Theater nominees are: ''Hell's Kitchen,'' ''Merrily We Roll Along,'' ''The Notebook,'' ''The Outsiders,'' ''Suffs'' and ''The Wiz.'' Playbill reports that the names of the principal artists for these albums have not been released yet. Some seem obvious; maybe others need verifying. I just assumed the albums had to submit whom they designated as principal artists, which can be tricky, especially if it's an ensemble effort. The Playbill article, below, also mentions some Broadway alumni who got Grammy nominated, like Barbra Streisand and Ariana Grande, but left out Lazar. |
