I dimly recall that being the case, but thanks for confirming it. I guess the Tonys changed that rule by the time Tveit was a solo nominee.

Actually, Tveit should've have been a solo nominee. There was one other guy who'd been ruled Tony-eligible for Leading Actor in a Musical: Chris McCarrell in ''The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.'' He'd gotten wonderful notices and deserved a Tony nomination, alongside Tveit, but the Tony nominators chose to snub ''The Lightning Thief'' across the board. It was classy of Tveit, who knows something about Tony snubs, to reach out to McCarrell in sympathy. Equally overlooked: Ryan Knowles, who should've been Tony-nominated for Featured Actor in ''The Lightning Thief.'' Knowles played 9 various characters, including a hilarious Hades, if channeled through Paul Lynde. The New York Times called Knowles' tour de force one of the best performances of that year.
