Maybe Happy Ending actually did have a try-out production at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta in January/February 2020. Dez Duron is the only cast member to continue to Broadway but the creative team is the same.
That leaves just MJ, though even that show was originally scheduled to have a try-out in Chicago.
