Matt Cavenaugh was one of the first guys I interviewed for my ''Leading Men'' column for Playbill.com in 2003. What a terrific performer and great guy. Matt was making his Broadway debut in ''Urban Cowboy'' and rode the ups and downs of that show like a bucking bronco. At our ''Leading Men'' benefit for Broadway Cares in 2007, I asked him to sing ''I Take It Back,'' an amazing Act I solo that Jason Robert Brown wrote (and was cut), and Matt stopped the show again. He'd go on to play Tony in ''West Side Story'' (and get an Outer Critics Circle nomination) and do ''Death Takes a Holiday'' (and get a Drama Desk nomination). I always thought he deserved a bigger Broadway career, but I hope he's happy with his family and running a theater in Arkansas.

By the way, Matt and Jenny made a delightful CD of older pop tunes called ''Gonna Make You Love Me,'' and it was music to my ears.
