| Generic is how it often feels. Not because of the performers but because of the casting. This kind of casting is everywhere now, compare the cast of the new Alien movie vs the cast of the original Alien (or any of its sequels). But... I'm not sure this hasn't nearly always been the case. Certainly for a while we had quirky ensembles with all sorts of different body types... but I think what we have now is more a return to form than some kind of new problem. Unless we're talking about a show like Lil'Abner... I don't think the musicals of the past were known for their diverse dance ensembles. |
