| Oddly slack. GOOD BONES is most engaging when it’s addressing the internal tension that economic advancement may bring to those who were once poor. Incorporating this into a familiar gentrification-cum-ghost story presses the play into more didactic, less interesting territory. Because the uneasy relationship between personal gain and social responsibility is insufficiently characterized, GOOD BONES feels more like a screed than a drama; it’s just a good idea for a play. The too deliberate pacing further exposes the play’s weakness. IJames’ FAT HAM bounded from the stage. Regrettably, GOOD BONES just sits there. |
