| I love how she and Donald O'Connor were doing some real and very energetic dancing in contrast to Marilyn Monroe singing "Lazy" in that film. I remember seeing Ethel Merman speaking very highly of her as a colleague and as a friend. Gaynor's Nellie Forbush was excellent and will be how most will see her, as "South Pacific" remains one of the classic shows. Her tv variety shows were indeed special, highly anticipated and highly-rated events. Very talented lady! Rest in peace. |
