''Nicholas Nickleby'' (1981) was a record hit play, especially at that time, but it also came to Broadway with lotsa prestige: Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company, directed by Trevor Nunn and John Caird, headlined by Roger Rees and based on a known novel by the legendary Charles Dickens..

I'd agree with MikeM. ''Oh, Mary!'' is a rare Broadway hit with none of those advantages as a ''80-minute play with no stars by a debut playwright.''

Plus, three of its 5-member cast are making their Broadway debuts. Its lead is non-binary, one supporting player is trans, and two others are openly gay.
