LCT has closed its membership, I believe for the first time since Broadway re-opened in late 2021. I think this is a smart monetary move, since people are apparently willing to pay large sums of money for this show. Last week, the average ticket price was $170 while the preview member price is $87. So a large percentage of tickets, probably at least 25%, are being sold to non-members paying premium prices. For reference, Uncle Vanya's first week had an average ticket price of $126 and Camelot's was $122. Pre-pandemic, it was a challenge to get member tickets for previews, but it has not been hard since then. I wonder if LCT will re-open membership for Floyd Collins, which I don't think will be a big draw unless a household name gets cast. |
