| The SF Chronicle ran a box about what New York shows were sold out and which had tickets. I subscribed to weekly Variety when I was 13, then I read the Friday and Sunday New York Times theatre columns (On the Rialto). I researched in the Best Plays series, the New York Theatre Critics reviews, and started reading great theatre biographies starting with Moss Hart's Act One and then William Goldman's classic The Season. I miss weekly Variety box office grosses for not only New York but also "The Road Grosses". It is astounding how the legitimate theatre has changed from the 1960s. |
