What about Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain? (They have a history going back to Juilliard).

I'd go see an Elizabeth Marvel/ Michael Stuhlbarg pairing! Or Michelle Williams/Sam Rockwell. Or Carrie Coon.

10 years ago, Laurie Metcalf and Steve Carrell would have been ideal casting! Same with a Frances McDormand/Richard Jenkins pairing many years ago.

I saw the original Broadway productions and I really wish Ruehl and Irwin had been a pair. Pullman seemed out of league with a stage beast like Ruehl. Not to mention, he was starring opposite Ruehl, one of the supreme Albee interpreters.

Speaking of supreme Albee interpreters, imagine seeing Irene Worth, Marian Seldes, Uta Hagen, Rosemary Harris, Jessica Tandy all tackle Stevie back in their days.
