Streisand is an extremely self-possessed person. There's nothing needy about her. The only performance she's given that might be comparable to one of Liza's is in "The Owl and The Pussycat," in which she is indeed quite broad. (I can't help but think TOATP played very differently in the hands of Diana Sands and Alan Alda, but I digress.)

Streisand played type-A characters in "What's Up, Doc?" and "The Way We Were," but both performances are nuanced in ways we just don't get from Liza. Liza treats every moment like her 11:00 number. She has no use for the other 23 hours in the day. Of course that's why many people love her, but they're more likely to see her in concert than in a movie.
