| There have been many folks over the years who said that Walter Kerr's review of Jill Haworth was unfair and very much off the mark. They said she was terrific, and she just WAS Sally Bowles. It comes through on the OCR. Fun story I mentioned here some time ago that I read about: apparently Jill Haworth used to live midtown east by Turtle Bay and walked her dog around there. Greta Garbo, who lived nearby was someone Haworth used to see walking her dog fairly regularly, but Haworth left her alone -- Garbo famously was known for wanting her privacy. One day, Garbo said "Good morning, Miss Haworth", to which the rather astonished Haworth said back "Good morning, Miss Garbo", pleased that Greta Garbo knew who she was (courtesy of starring in "Cabaret"). | |
