Thanks for the details on the (ridiculous) Othello ticket prices. Rationalization is a wonderful thing, but there really is no way to justify this insanity. I know this will never happen, but if just once people refused to pay these exorbitant prices, maybe something might change. I don't wish to put people out of work, but when will it be too much?
I'm old enough to remember when theatergoing in NYC was a routine part of life, tickets were relatively affordable, and discounts were plentiful. We appreciated it but didn't really know how good we had it.
A friend and I very much want to see this Othello, but I may just say no. I can re-watch the 2013 NT Live production with Rory Kinnear & Adrian Lester. It's the best production of Othello I've ever seen. |
