There was a prior movie. The Man Who Never Was. 1956. At that time, it was still a state secret as to whose body was used. Only in 1996 was it revealed to have been Glyndwr Michael, a homeless man who killed himself in 1943. After the reveal, a marker was placed in Spain acknowledging his posthumous major role in the mission.
