Yes, that's because NY theatre auditoria are generally fan-shaped and London ones much narrower (and extend further back). The great Glenda Jackson used to reference her "spray gun technique" when working on Broadway so as to hold the attention of the entire house.
Our intrepid traveller was very brave to see KATHY & STELLA SOLVE A MURDER, hands down the worst show of the year so far -- my traumatised (by the show) guest and I fled at the interval. But the Ambassadors is famously awful and best avoided unless you can get an aisle seat in the first few rows of the circle and then it's just about OK. Shame coz their next show is actually lovely -- the BENJAMIN BUTTON musical. |
