I've seen it a number of times in the past, both in theatres and on television, including TCM. I caught the last 45 minutes or so yesterday. I didn't find the print bad visually. There was a second near the end when the screen suddenly went white, and it seemed like the problem might have been with what they were showing, not with the transmission. Of course, a number of times in the movie, someone is in the foreground in sharp focus and someone else is in the background in extremely soft focus, but I assume you don't mean those parts.
But the sound did seem off to me yesterday. I don't think it's my hearing. It's not that I couldn't hear everything, but it was rather like old BBC stuff, as if the mike was on the camera and anyone who wasn't close to the camera was recorded from a distance. And when that happened, sometimes the people further away from the camera were difficult to understand, as if they were speaking with poor diction. And this is not, of course, a film with actors who speak with poor diction. |
