I don’t know the musical well enough to speak to the changes but I thought it was largely Sutton Foster’s show and when she wasn’t onstage the musical didn’t make much of a case for itself as a whole. And there were some stellar performers in the cast aside from Foster (at least at the Encores performances). I think I would agree with those that see it as a one act show that’s been stretched out a bit too thinly. I missed Gerald Gutierrez’ production and that might have had a verve and edge to it that might have held it together.
