| Did you see Lane on the single revival season of Showtime's PENNY DREADFUL, in which he played a police detective in 1940's Los Angeles? He was superb and played it completely straight without any of the mannerisms and size that we've come to expect from him. So he's capable of it. I suppose that it just depends on the material and the director. I don't know what it was about PENNY DREADFUL, but that show's original run also managed not one, but two brilliant performances from Patti LuPone, also completely playing against type. |
