...to my question, but I'll just say that I miss Growltiger. The Pekes and Pollicles, which replaced it in the last Broadway revival and tour, is pretty limp in my opinion. I loved Growltiger for it's sense of kids-at-play pirate ship adventure, the musical variety we get from the Italian operetta pastiche, and maybe most of all because it brings us back to wrap up Gus at the very end.

I was very glad Pekes was not in The Jellice Ball.

If they were concerned about racism, I could see a way to change a few lines (mentioned below) and most of all NOT have them sing with an affected accent that seems born from the stereotype of how Asians might (mis) pronounce English.
