Exactly, Hewitt is very good, especially his vocals, which do a good job of telling the story. I wish the relationship between Williams and Hansford had a little more nuance, and I wish the libretto gave more depth to Hansford's character and made him more sympathetic in Act One. I liked Colby's performance in Act Two a lot more than what he did earlier. Danny is obviously a really good-looking guy, but he's also damaged and as a result very angry, violent, and self-loathing. Unfortunately, the libretto makes him seem one note and just a shallow jerk.

Ghee is really terrific. The way he nails the clever lines is breathtaking, but his role right now doesn't work, although what he does is very entertaining. Maybe he should be one who tells us the whole story from beginning to end. Just a thought. The show has made me think a lot. I need to re-watch the movie.
