| I like to think what you are saying is true re: modulating her performance for the screen. If that had happened (and honestly, LeRoy directed Natalie Wood to a beautiful performance) then it truly is a shame we didn't get Merman on screen for this. I'm currently reading Merman's autobiography and she makes pointed mention of receiving a telegram from Freddie Brisson (Roz Russell's husband) saying if she ever needs a replacement, Freddie knows of someone (!). Ironic and prophetic. |
