| I would say he does. He seems genuinely friendly to him, in addition to taking English lessons. He tells Cliff about one of his favorite nightspots, the Kit Kat Klub, and urges Cliff to meet him there that night, New Year's Eve. Would he want Cliff to join him there if he didn't like him? And a bit later he tries to get Cliff to go on a double date with him. While the relationship starts with Ernst using Cliff, it quickly progresses to what seems to be a genuine friendship, although not necessarily an especially close one. |
