There's a very early German feature film, made in 1913, called The Life of Richard Wagner. While it's primarily a bio-pic, as we would say, it does feature several sequences from his epic operas.
There are also several silent versions of Carmen, including one starring Geraldine Farrar, famous opera diva who performed the role on stage. |
