I also saw the showing SF with heavily discounted $38 main floor seats for Company (with 10 processing fee). The main floor was maybe 1/2 full for a Sunday matinee, usually a heavy subscription audience. Mrs. Doubtfire is playing to even emptier houses in the same theatre and offering multiple discounts for orchsstra seats. However, Wicked in its fifth return engagement is selling out fast. Company received mixed reviews, Doubtfire received mediocre reviews. So the quality of the show does make a difference. Doubtfire has one of the worst scores I have heard, even worse than Lestat, and so many meaningless production numbers that made a lot of noise but did not make dramatic sense. Too bad because Rob McClure is giving a solid comic performance (though imitative of robin Williams), but has no musical material to work with.
