| I take exception that the premise no longer makes sense -- the function of an answering service is covered at the start of the show. Yes, it's dated because it's set in the 1950s when answering services were used a lot, but as a musical, if you accept the situation of the old technology, it can still work -- with the right star (a young Cyndi Lauper could have done it) and company. The Faith Prince-led production didn't work unfortunately. |
