| Portenpete, thanks for sharing your thoughts. One can realize our culture has vastly changed and still mourn the past. I know giant newspaper ads with lotsa quotes about Broadway shows are long-gone. But I still miss seeing them. Just as I miss seeing new Al Hirschfeld caricatures. Or thick Arts and Leisure sections in the Times. Then again, I spent my life working in newspapers, so I just miss newspapers, period. That's why I really love shows like ''The Front Page'' and ''Newsies'': They were about a world where folks still read newspapers, and newspapers still mattered. Sigh. |
