Darin originally wanted to be an actor before getting into singing. After musical success, he went into films. His performance in "Captain Newman, M.D." features him in an Oscar-nominated performance, especially his gut-wrenching scene with star Gregory Peck as the doctor, in which Darin relives the devastating scenario that put him in the mental hospital. A really fine performance. Plus he was in more comedic fare, among the likes of his wife Sandra Dee, Gina Lollobrigida, Rock Hudson and Joel Grey!

Groff is already older than Darin was at his death at 37 though. Don't know at what age the musical bio will start at.
