Oh, I've been to my share of shows where I knew the text but couldn't make it out. One that I remember is a tour of My Fair Lady (in 2008 with Marni Nixon as Mrs. Higgins) - the songs were adequately miked but the dialogue was underwater.
Loudest show I think I've ever been to was another tour - the Boston leg of the American Idiot tour (2014). That was definitely a "should brought earplugs" night. I enjoyed the production but really, it did not need to be anywhere close to that loud. |
