That’s interesting to hear. This production looks bare bones judging from the clips/pictures they’ve released. Next to the productions that opened in the 80s (West End, Broadway, Bochum, Japan/Australia tour) this production looks like something from the Menier Chocolate Factory. Is there something I’m missing that’s not being shown online?
I want to clarify that I’m not trying to be contrary. You’re not the first person I’ve heard say this, and I feel like there’s something I’m not seeing. In any case, I’m hoping this is a huge hit because Starlight Expeess was one of the first professional musicals I saw as a child. I was hooked after seeing this one in Las Vegas which was a much smaller production than any of the 80s productions.
