And whatever happened to the Tammy Faye Bakker musical that Kristin Chenoweth was working on? She sounds like she would've been ideal casting.

Was that this same musical? Or was it a rival project?

That was a completely different project--or possibly two projects. In 2011, Kristin did a reading of a Tammy Faye Bakker musical called Rise, which had music by Henry Krieger and book and lyrics by Australian playwright Anthony Crowley.

In 2019, she told Andy Cohen that she was now working on a Tammy Faye musical with a book by Robert Horn and a score by David Yazbek.

What ties these together--besides Chenoweth's involvement--is that around 2012, Yazbek joined the Krieger/Crowley version as lyricist. My memory (I don't have a songlist handy to check) is that the 2014 American Songbook concert featuring Krieger's work included one song with lyrics by Crowley and one with lyrics by Yazbek, both clearly from this project but neither identified as such.

Seth, who knew most of that from memory
