Totally agree with everything you said :). I am glad I saw it without much advance hype (I don't know why the run at Playwrights seemed to elude me but I really hadn't been aware of it before it moved to the Golden). I saw it the day after the Tony noms were announced so I suppose I had some expectations but it just grabbed me and never let me go (in its quiet way) for 3+ hours. And I have zero knowledge of or interest in 1970's rock. I sat in the first row of the mezzanine on the far side and felt very intimately connected to what was going on. It would be interesting to see in a very small space, I suppose, where you feel like you're actually in the studio sitting in a bean bag chair, but the transfer worked beautifully for me.

It may not have opened with stars but it will be closing with them. I can't wait to see Tom Pecinka and Eli Gelb and Will Brill again! Something else to hope for!
