Thanks, toros. I have also asked Alan the same question. I just wonder every time someone says the original was perfect (or not to be outdone, or etc.). Some of the things you cite (terrible word of mouth, bad reviews, etc.) seem to say most people didn't think it was great or even good. That, unless it's something theatre wasn't ready for at that time.

I've not seen it with young people, but I personally haven't had a problem with adults playing a 20-year span (which also makes me think Linklater's approach for the film isn't necessary).

And I've at least liked very much every production I've seen (even the Fiasco, and even the first one I saw in community theatre where they had a giant game of Life prop whose trail went backwards). But I see flaws in the book; I wish it were perfect.
