Well, I’ve been a marketing professional for 25+ years with the bulk of my career spent working on theatrical and broadcast work, including launches of some major campaigns, but I have never referred to myself as a marketing genius. Those that have hired me though...

All I’m saying, from my point of view and experience, the film industry is experiencing a major, major slump and nothing should be taken for granted as a hit, regardless of built in fan base.

There is EVERYTHING to be gained from keeping our audience on the ride to the opening of the film. Had there been a new trailer or a snippet of something, we’d all be posting it / dissecting it, keeping it in the forefront. It’s why a trailer was released 6-months prior to the film opening—because long lead advertising for entertainment works. An ad created to speak directly to the theater-crowd through the broadcast would have been a very exciting thing and, in my opinion, was missed and would have been money well spent.
