Sorry to say, I'm really offended by your statements about jewishness. Why can't Jonas play a jewish character - or as you put it, why will he "not seem likely to be able to play the jewish guy..."? What stereotypes of jewishness are you needing to see Jonas give us? Really?
As for "Shikse Goddess," do we know (given the discussions about Audra recently) whether Cathy is actually black in this production, or if it's only a black actress playing "color blind?" If it's the latter, there's no problem with the song whatsoever. And even if she's not, Cathy would still assumedly be non-jewish, so the song still works, no matter what ELSE Jamie's mother might object to. |
